How you start your day is all about creating the right mindset. We all know those mornings, not able to come out of bed, wanting to snooze a few times and then roll into the shower and start the day. Sounds familiar?
So start your day by setting a positive intention for the day.
What steps to take for the practice
When you wake up, don’t start your day immediately, just wait a few minutes lying awake in your bed.
Think about what for a day you like it to be and how you want to feel during the day.
Write down at least one positive intention, for example:
- I will keep an open mind during the day
- I will speak in up that meeting
- I will stay calm while working towards this deadline
- I will help someone else today
- I will give it my all during training
Visualize how this will make you feel, what do you hear, and what do you see when this happens.
Get up and start your day with your new positive intention.
Evaluate your positive intention before you go to sleep.
Embed this routine into your morning and evening routine.
Setting positive intentions can be done during the day. For example before a meeting, before giving a presentation or before going to training.
You can use cards with quotes/wisdom/intentions to get inspired for a positive intention.
There are also apps that send you a quote each morning to set your intention. For example, the app Enliven.
My favorite morning quote is: ‘Win the morning, win the day’.
